CHAPTER 2: SPORTS EVENTS (RECOUNT TEXT)

Recount Text adalah teks yang menceritakan kembali kejadian atau pengalaman di masa lalu. Tujuan umumnya adalah untuk menginformasikan atau menghibur pendengar.

Recount Text adalah jenis teks yang mempunyai kesamaan dengan Narrative Text. Perbedaan antara keduanya yaitu terdapat pada struktur yang membentuk teks tersebut.

Dalam Recount Text terdapat rangkaian peristiwa yang terjadi (Series of Event), sedangkan dalam Narrative Text terdapat konflik (Complication) yang terjadi antara participants/tokoh, baik konflik yang alamiah, konflik sosial, atau konflik secara psikologis dimana kita tidak akan menemukannya pada Recount Text.

Recount Text memiliki beberapa jenis, yaitu:

1.      Personal Recount (Menceritakan kembali sebuah aktivitas pembicara atau penulis yang telah melibatkan orang secara personal, e.g. diary entry, biography, etc.).

2.      Factual Recount (Mencatat sebuah peristiwa tertentu/khusus, e.g. news report, police report, etc.).

3.      Imaginative Recount (Mengambil peran pada sebuah khayalan dan memberikan peristiwa-peristiwa yang detail, e.g. a day in the life of).

A.     PURPOSE (TUJUAN)

Purpose (Tujuan) Recount Text adalah untuk menceritakan kembali sesuatu yang terjadi di masa lalu dan menceritakan sebuah rangkaian peristiwa di masa lalu.

 

B.     GENERIC STRUCTURE (STRUKTUR UMUM)

Generic Structure Recount Text adalah sebagai berikut:

1.       Orientation: Pengenalan Partisipan/tokoh, tempat dan waktu.

2.       Events: Mendeskripsikan rangkaian peristiwa yang terjadi di masa lalu.

3.       Reorientation (Optional): Menyatakan komentar pribadi penulis pada cerita.

 

C.       LANGUAGE FEATURES (CIRI-CIRI KEBAHASAAN)

• Using Past Tense
• Introducing Personal Participant: I, my group, etc.
• Using Chronological Connection: then, first, etc.
• Using Linking Verb: was, were, saw, heard, etc.
• Using Action Verbs: go, run, etc.

 

D.     CONTOH RECOUNT TEXT

THE FIRST DAY IN MY SCHOOL

 

Orientation	Two days ago, exactly on Monday, I went to SMAN 03 Kotabumi for the first time. I went there by motorcycle. Because I did not know where that school was, I was so afraid if I would go ashtray and be late.
Events 1	After having arrived at SMAN 03 Kotabumi, I did not find any friend of mine. I thought whether I was in the right place or not. A few minutes later, one of my friends came and he was followed by all my friends who had teaching training there.
Events 2	Before I joined the flag ceremony, I had gone to library. I could see many new things there such as a great magazine “PIONEER”, newspaper, wise words, etc. Then, a teacher asked me to go out and join the flag ceremony. Joining it, I got a new thing, a teacher greeted students using English in ceremony.
Events 3	Then, a teacher explained to me about SMAN 03 Kotabumi and showed me all facilities there. I thought this school was different from other school which I had found before.
Reorientation	I decided to do the best in my teaching training in this school.
